Re: Re: Re: Kaposi's Sarcoma and the Perth Group

I heartily endorse Chris Noble's efforts to get some of the participants in this debate to wake up and aquaint themselves with recent scientific literature. Certainly resurrecting the old pet theories about poppers and KS and pretending they are current concepts will not suffice. Mr Russell's constant referral to "HHV-6" (Kaposi's sarcoma is caused by HHV-8) does not inspire confidence either.

Surprisingly for a writer and philosopher, Mr Russell seems to be getting very muddled in his reasoning. He states he believes the Perth Group statment: "At present it is generally accepted that HIV plays no role, either directly or indirectly, in the causation of KS". However, he then immediately waves a flag of contradiction by saying "What is generally accepted is not necessarily true."

So, Mr Russell, are you really saying the Perth Group are right but also wrong? (I actually suspect the source of your obvious inconsistency here lies in your desperation to believe uncritically anything the Perth Group says, no matter what overwhelming evidence exists to the contrary, even if they make statments that are at variance with your own views).

Drs Noble, Bennett and myself have all given relevant references pointing to the role of HIV in the causation of KS. You will not find evidence in your faded copies of Continuum magazine. Try the modern scientific literature.
