What is Christopher Noble’s method for proving the existence of a new retrovirus?

One should not be so concerned as to what his method is, but does it meet the following criteria:

1. It allows him to demand that all must replicate his method, even though he himself hasn't applied it to any retrovirus. Nobody in the history of the world should have done so either.

2. It should be referenced to an obscure Journal article at least 30 Years old.

3. It should not be supported as crucial in the study of any new retrovirus by any credentialed virological society.

4. After years of demanding that HIV live up to his 'method', he should (if challenged), state that 'I didn't invent the method, I just kind of read it somewhere insignificant.'
