Dear Editor,

Tony Floyd and his associates have made it abundantly clear that they do not believe that the Padian and/or Rakai studies can be used to prove or disprove HIV transmission. Less clear is why they, or anyone else should believe that sexual transmission of HIV does occur. Perhaps Mr. Floyd and his associates could provide, say, 1 to 20 references that individually, or in the aggregate, provide dispositive evidence for the sexual transmission of HIV. Then they can retreat to their tire swings where, swaying gently under the trees, they might generate more delightful bon mots to follow the hilarious non sequitur, “If you are admitting that you have published misinformation why ask Peter Flegg to give it to you”?
